In the shadow of her past, Peggy-Sue found the strength to rise and change her life. From a life marked by addiction to becoming the proud owner of a leading addiction clinic, Peggy-Sue’s journey is an inspiring story of perseverance, recovery and hope. In this blog, we explore this courageous woman’s remarkable story and discover how she found the strength not only to transform her own life, but also the lives of others.

Peggy-Sue’s journey began in warm South Africa, but behind that sunny façade lay a less cheerful reality. She grew up in an unstable home where she never truly felt safe. Her search for identity and a sense of belonging led her to the underground nightlife scene. There she found not only a refuge, but also a world steeped in temptation, in which alcohol, drugs and sex played the leading roles.

Peggy-Sue had her first drink at the age of 18, and from that moment there was no turning back.

“I became an alcoholic immediately and essentially never stopped drinking after that.”

The blissful feeling it gave her made all her problems disappear in an instant. That evening, she continued drinking until she was drunk, and less than four days later she drank until she blacked out.

The year 2006 marked a turning point for Peggy-Sue, when the reality of her addiction dawned on her. With her partner also suffering from addiction, who would later succumb to this demonic disease, her family began to suspect that she too had fallen prey to addiction.

Once she became aware of the problem, Peggy-Sue began her search for help, a search marked by disappointment. The available help was scarce and inadequate, leaving her feeling that there was no hope of rescue. Her health deteriorated rapidly and she found herself on the brink of the abyss. In 2010, everything finally fell into place.

“I realised: I don’t have to keep fighting, I can let go, I have a higher power and I am going to trust in that higher power.”

On 24 January 2010, she put down the substances for the last time and chose a new beginning. On 25 January 2010, Peggy-Sue began her journey towards recovery, a journey from darkness towards the long-awaited light.

After finally overcoming addiction, Peggy-Sue once again found herself on a quest. This time, she was searching for who she was and what she wanted to achieve in life. Becoming clean revealed an emptiness within her and also brought an overwhelming fear of the future.

Finding work proved challenging, as nothing seemed to make her truly happy. Guided by a spiritual mentor, she decided to travel to America to train as an interventionist. At first, she did not know exactly where this journey would lead, but the fact that it involved recovery and abstinence gave her a sense of reassurance. As time went on, Peggy-Sue realised that she was now in a position to create what she herself had lacked.

“I knew exactly what people like me needed and what was missing in so many places.”

After establishing several businesses, Peggy-Sue is now the proud founder of her own addiction clinic. Her self-developed formula, which positive feedback from clients suggests is effective, demonstrates the power of recovery and offers hope to those seeking a path towards a healthier and more balanced life.
